"Modern musicians and listeners often proclaim the “timelessness” of J.S. Bach’s music but it would seem that his music is only timeless when we alter it to fit our own aesthetic and cultural sensibilities. We believe that producing and performing the St. John Passion should begin with a desire to hear this music as Bach heard it. Only then will we be able to present something that is both artistically and historically meaningful."
